macOS 14 Sonoma or later Apple silicon and Intel 5,1 MB, DMG Signed and notarized by Apple Downloaded from GitHub

Installation

  1. Open the DMG and drag TodrixPad to Applications

If an earlier version is already there, quit it first (TodrixPad menu › Quit TodrixPad), then choose Replace.

  2. Open TodrixPad

The welcome window opens and guides you through the steps below, and a T made of five keys appears in the menu bar, at the top right (no Dock icon). If the menu bar is full or there's the screen notch, the T may be hidden: reopening TodrixPad from Applications brings back the welcome window. macOS asks for the Local Network permission and maybe the firewall's: answer Allow, otherwise the iPhone can't find the Mac.

  3. Grant the permissions

The welcome window shows the permissions with their status (later you find them in the menu › Permissions…). Each permission has the buttons Allow… and Open Settings:

    PermissionWhat it's for
AccessibilityPlay/Pause, next and previous track (real media keys)
Screen RecordingScreenshot; applies after restarting TodrixPad
Local NetworkBeing found by the iPhone
AutomationOnly if you use AppleScript keys: macOS asks the first time
  4. Open TodrixPad at login

Menu › Settings… › Open TodrixPad at login: so it's always ready when you turn on the Mac.

  5. Pair the iPhone

The QR code is already in the welcome window (or menu › Pair iPhone…). In the TodrixPad iPhone app tap Pair with QR code, scan it, then on the Mac press Allow. You do it only once.

Updating and uninstalling

Updating: from version 1.0.2 TodrixPad checks once a day whether there's a new version and offers it to you (menu › Check for Updates… to check right away). It installs only updates signed by TodrixPad. From 1.0.1 or earlier: download the new DMG from this page, quit TodrixPad from the menu and replace it in Applications. Permissions and paired iPhones stay.

Uninstalling: menu › Quit TodrixPad, then drag TodrixPad from Applications to the Trash. To also remove its keys, search for “TodrixPad” in Keychain Access and delete its items.
